Cabinets

After many trials and tribulations, Josh and I pulled the trigger on our kitchen cabinets today. This had been a frustrating process for us. Of the first three companies we met with, one came in way over our budget and the other two turned out to be difficult to communicate with. Even though we had our initial meetings in early March, we didn't get estimates until mid-April, and we had a hard time getting them to provide door and paint/stain samples so we could make an informed decision about what to order. Our builders started to panic and called in Cindy from CNC Kitchen Design to see if she could help us out.

Dane and I met with Cindy for the first time a little over a week ago, and she was able to get back to us very quickly with initial pricing information and show us some samples. If we had met with her two months ago, our lives would have been so much easier! Although the line of cabinets she works with (Decora) doesn't offer as many of the options we preferred, we felt more comfortable working with someone who was responsive and helpful and could get us what we needed in a timely manner.

I met Cindy at the house this afternoon so she could measure the kitchen and bathrooms to make sure they matched the specs on the plans before placing the order. That definitely inspired even more confidence!
We may need to make a couple small adjustments for logistical reasons (like leaving enough room next to the bathroom vanity for the toilet), but otherwise everything seemed to measure up OK, so I think we're good to go. What a relief!

After Cindy left, I checked out the drywall. The crew had already left for the day, but all the drywall is done and they had finished the second coat of plaster on the seams. Here's the kitchen area.
And the arch between the living and dining rooms.Since it was threatening to rain, the stucco crew wasn't there, either, but it looks like they got a lot done on the north side of the house yesterday.
You can see the new stucco above the trim and the old stucco below. Once they are done with all the messy stuff, they'll clean and paint the old part around the base of the house so it matches the color of the new stucco. Tomorrow's supposed to be clear and sunny, so hopefully we'll see some more stucco action soon.
