I made a brief stop at the house this afternoon to see how the tile and built-ins were coming along. Ian did not appear to be there, but Juan and Romero were still tiling the shower in the master bathroom. And now that all the painters' dropcloths had been removed, you can see the re-laid floor in the main level bathroom. Ian had originally laid it as a straight grid, but Rex had it as a running bond in the drawings, so he redid it yesterday. I actually kind of liked it better as a grid, but not enough to make him redo it again.
Upstairs, all of the doors had been installed, including this skinny one on the linen closet next to the bathroom. And these closet doors in the back bedroom.
Rob said our homework for the weekend was to pick out doorknobs, and wrote down the name of a supplier on a scrap of cardboard. Then we counted all the doors upstairs and he made a list of all the different kinds of knobs we'd need (lockable for bedrooms and bathrooms, one-sided for closets, etc) on a scrap of wood. I should really bring my notebook with me next time.
John and Steve W were still working on the built-ins in the master bedroom. They had finished the bench for the window seat, which has a hinged lid so we can store stuff inside. (It was hard to get a good photo -- the room was pretty crowded.)
Our kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities are supposed to arrive next week. Once those are installed, then the house will really start to come together -- and Ian will be able to start tiling the bathroom walls. Lots to look forward to...
