The newly-vacated apartment across the hall from ours was being "cleaned" today, resulting in all manner of horrible noises and smells wafting into mine. The management does not seem to have jumped onto the Low/No-VOC bandwagon. I finally got sick of it and went over to the house, which turned out to be quieter and infinitely more pleasant-smelling than my apartment.
Our front lawn was an unnatural shade of green. I don't know what this stuff is, but it's not fooling anyone... ;-)
I noticed all the 4" baseboard trim had already been pulled out and was sitting on the front porch.
Inside, they had made amazing progress installing the larger baseboard trim. Justin and Rob were still working on that while John was busy installing the oak treads on the stairs.
Upstairs, Ian and his assistant Romero were finishing up the subway tile around the shower. Ian had consulted with Rex in the morning to confirm the details of the accent tile around the window, so he showed me how it was going to look.
Ian's other assistant, Juan, was grouting the laundry room floor.
And they had prepped the downstairs bathroom. Ian said that now that all the prep work is done, the tile installation should go pretty quickly -- although some things will have to wait until the bathroom vanities have been installed.
With all the framing and trim, the door for our linen closet downstairs is less than 18 inches wide. It looks more like a shutter! Still, there's plenty of space inside -- it's pretty deep -- and we have two more linen closets upstairs. That's three more linen closets than we had before!
When the guys started cleaning up, I noticed they used this little pressurized air hose to blow all the dust out of their hair and clothes before they left.
After his air shower, I told Rob he looked like the Heat Miser, but I guess he's too young to be familiar with that character from the old Rankin/Bass animated Christmas specials.
Ian finished the subway tile in the upstairs bathroom, but didn't get to the blue accent tile today. I hope he'll be able to do that tomorrow -- I'm excited to see how it looks.
